Roof Maintenance Advice – Common Issues

07th Mar 18 | Back to blog

The roof on your home is one of the most important components.  Important checks should be made regular to make sure they are water tight as roof structures tend to wear out faster.

  • Ensure there are no missing or broken slates/tiles
  • Take a look at your chimney as this is a common source for leaks
  • Check the flashing isn’t damaged or starting to peel away
  • Make sure any vents or structures in the roof are sealed around

Re-roofing is basically taking down the old roof and installing a new roof. This is generally done when the damage is too severe to be repaired and you are dealing with persistent leaks. This unfortunately can be the only way to deal with this situation effectively and it may work out less costly than constant repairs.

What is a Dry Ridge System? Rather than using mortar for a bond,  we offer the option of a  dry fix system that uses screws (often stainless steel) to attach clamps between the joints of each ridge tile, basically clamping them on. Beneath these screws are unions that catch any rainfall and disperse it sideways.
